Case Study: Man of Aran Fudge

Susan and Tomas operate a very successful fudge making business in Ballivor, County Meath. They travel to markets and fairs across Europe selling their delicious homemade fudge with a variety of 24 flavours, all made from an age old recipe which Tomas learned from his mum while living on the Aran Islands as a child.  Man of Aran Fudge had an website but both Susan and Tomas felt it did not fully reflect their product range and was not inviting enough for customers to order online. Yes the fudge was selling online but they both felt it could perform a lot better with a more modern layout and user friendly experience.
Susan and Tomas contacted us and we sat down to gather more information about their product and what was unique about it.  During our first meeting, Susan brought some Fudge with her and we immediately could see the difference. Here was a fabulous homemade product which looked delicious, was generous in portion size and presented lovingly.  The website needed to reflect this more as the product sells itself, but the customer needs to see it for themselves. After the initial meeting Ray designed a theme for the website around the richness of the product, incorporating imagery of the finished product which showed it’s texture, richness and generosity which has visitors wanting to taste the fudge there and then.
By introducing a sliding banner which pops out to the visiting customer they immediately get a clear indication of the style of product they are considering.  The website is easy to navigate and has strong call to action on relevant pages to encourage customers to enter the online shop and make a purchase.  The shop facility allows the customer to select from a choice of 24 flavours to fill their gift box or alternatively they can choose from a range of pre selected ready to go gift boxes.  The website now has more details of when and where fudge lovers can visit Tomas at Markets and encourages customers to suggest new market fairs.
Social media has been added to the website and is now becoming a valuable tool for Man of Aran to let customers know which event they are attending each weekend. This will become an integral method for Man of Aran to keep its’ followers informed as their customer base grows.  Both Susan and Tomas are delighted with the new design and more importantly their customers have given them very positive feedback to date.  As Susan said:
